To My Baby Boy on His 6th Birthday

My (not so) lil guy (anymore),

Six years ago I cried happy tear when I first saw your face and heard your voice. You have brought me nothing but pure joy since that very first moment. With your birthday, I celebrate the anniversary of the day when the most amazing miracle happened in my lives, YOU. Watching you grow has been a wonderfully delightful moment of my life.

As all mommies do, I have dreams and wishes for you, thousands of them. Today on our 6th anniversary, I would like to share the sixth I wish for most.

I wish you’ll stay kind hearted, as you are now. Stay this way, stay the same. Let everyone’s day be joyous as you infused it with your smile and happiness.

Be a student.  Be a teacher.  Take every moment as an opportunity to learn. Read a lot. Be curious. Ask questions. When you know something and know it well, teach others!  Do not keep your knowledge for yourself, share them. Learn the essential beauty of having a gift to learn and a privilege to teach.

I wish you wins and losses.  What kind of mommy who’d like to see their son losses? Yes, Baby, I’m that kind of mommy. As much as I’d love to see you succeed in everything you do… As much as I believe in your ability to win… I must wish you challenges. For it is within losses and failure, you character will be built. As a mom, it is my job to do my best to guide you through these moments. If everything was to be easy for you, you would be wounded when you face the real world. I promise you, life is not always easy.

Your dreams; do them! Your passion; live it! You’ll learn that everything starts with a dream. Follow your heart. Treasure your family. Be loyal to your friends. Embrace your fears; allow them to make you stronger.

Seek joy. Always find something that makes you happy and do it. Small act of kindness, listening to a song you love, calling a friend, watching a sports game with your Ayah. Doesn’t matter that thing is too simple. What matters is that you spend each day smiling and laughing.

Stay in Allah’s path. It may seem narrow. But trust me; Allah’s path is a wide open way of blessing and joy. It is narrow because it is surrounded by amazing abundance. Sometimes it is also hard to find, but always look up to Al Qur’an as it is the guidance to mankind.

My dear baby boy,
You are what a paradise looks like in form of a boy. Your Ayah and I didn’t teach you to how to be the perfect son. It is you who taught us how to be the perfect parents. Thank you lil buddy, for completing our lives.
I will always love you, my buddy.
